Will God use me as He did in the Bible to speak to others?
God gave Isaiah an amazing vision of His glory on His throne: “It was in the year King Uzziah died that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of His robe filled the Temple. (Isaiah:1:6).
The Lord asked Isaiah who would go and speak to His people? We see no indication that Isaiah hesitated in answering God’s call for a volunteer! “Then I heard the Lord asking, ‘Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?’” I said, “Here I am. Send me.” (Isaiah:6:8)
Isaiah did not lack confidence or suffer from low self-esteem! After being cleansed by God, he was ready to go! This was not the case with Moses. He also stood in God’s presence and received God’s call to action, but his response was totally different. He said, send someone else, not me! "But Moses pleaded with the Lord, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.” Then the Lord asked Moses, “Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.” (Exodus:4:10-12)
No matter what we think we can do or not do; no matter what others say about us, God equips us to do the job to accomplish His purpose. Paul spoke a prayer and blessing over the people in Hebrews:13:21: “May He equip you with all you need for doing His will. May He produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to Him. All glory to Him forever and ever! Amen.” We have all we need in Christ! We only need to make ourselves available and say, “Here I am, send me!” God will do the rest in us and through us!

Can I depend on God alone to provide and take care of me?
King Hezekiah was a king that pleased God in all his ways; however, the king did some things that angered God. (2 Chronicles:31:20-21); (2 Kings:18:5-7). He was scolded by the Prophet Isaiah for aligning with Egypt for protection from the Assyrian armies. God said that this was not His plan and they should have consulted with Him before doing it! He told them it would only bring them disgrace to trust in Pharaoh. (Isaiah:30:1-5). That is God’s desire for us, too; to trust in Him above all others and to seek His counsel in all our ways. (Proverbs:3:5-6).
King Sennacherib threatened King Hezekiah and the entire city of Jerusalem. He sent messengers to mock and threaten King Hezekiah and God’s people. His goal was to coax them into surrendering because the situation was hopeless. King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah continually reminded the people of God’s promise to protect them. The situation with human eyes did seem hopeless. But, we are called to walk by faith and not by sight! (2 Corinthians:37:5-7).
King Hezekiah tore his clothes and dressed in sackcloth as He prayed before the Lord for His help. He then sent his messengers to the prophet Isaiah for advice. Isaiah spoke God’s Word, saying that God’s people should not be afraid, He would indeed protect them! (Isaiah:37:1-7). God said that because Hezekiah had prayed to Him for help, He would defend and save the city of Jerusalem! (Isaiah:37:21-35).
God did exactly as He said and defeated the enemy. King Sennacherib was killed with a sword as God had spoken. (Isaiah:37:36-38).
King Hezekiah and the people put their hope in God to provide all that was needed to defeat the enemy. The people were silent and did not engage in conversation with the enemy They did not boast in themselves but waiting silently on God. (Isaiah:36:11-21). God saw their complete dependence on Him and answered their prayers. God is pleased when we depend on Him alone for all we need. Psalm:62:5 says, “Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in Him.”

God performed miracles for King Hezekiah, does He perform miracles today?
In Isaiah:38:8 – Hezekiah had become very ill. Isaiah told the king that God said to get his affairs in order because he would die. Hezekiah immediately prayed to God. God told Isaiah to go back to Hezekiah and tell him he would have 15 more years of life! God then gave Hezekiah a sign that He would do as He said. He told Hezekiah that the sun’s shadow would go back ten steps on the stone stairway, and it did!
The Bible is filled God’s miracles for His people in the Old Testament. Other miracles are recorded that Jesus performed on earth; and still others performed by His disciples with His authority He gave them. John:1:25 says: “Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written.” Most likely, many of those “other things” were signs and wonders also! Many people believe that God does not perform miracles today. That really doesn’t make sense, especially when we read this in Hebrews:13:8: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Why would He decide to stop displaying His love and infinite power to draw people to Him and to help His children? The short and simple answer is—He wouldn't! As a Spirit filled believer, we also know that the Holy Spirit enables and gives us special gifts and abilities to accomplish God’s will and to help others. One of these gifts that He gives us is the working of miracles! (1 Corinthians:12:1-7.)
As awesome as God’s miracles of power to bring victory to His people and to provide for them, there is one miracle that stands apart as the greatest: the miracle of forgiveness and salvation by the work of Jesus on the cross. Jesus replaced our sinfulness with His righteousness to bring us back into right relationship with God, the Father. John:15:13 says, "There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends." Jesus died that we might live forever with Him in heaven! That is a miracle that will continue until the end of time! (John:3:16-17)

How can I serve God when I know I have sinned and feel unworthy?
In Isaiah’s vision of God in Isaiah 6, he was instantly overwhelmed with a feeling of fear, guilt, and shame. He knew that he was a sinful man standing in the presence of the Almighty God; pure and holy! “Then I said, “It’s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.” (Isaiah:6:5). A seraph then took a burning coal, placed it on his lips and instantly cleansed him of his sin and shame. “Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. He touched my lips with it and said, “See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven.” (Isaiah:6:6-7).
Isaiah was now ready for God’s work! When the Lord asked who would go; Isaiah didn’t hesitate or make excuses. “Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.” (Isaiah:6:8).
The devil wants us to carry around guilt and shame; he is the accuser of God’s followers. But, the Bible tells us that there is no condemnation in Christ! (Romans:8:1); (Revelation:12:10). As Isaiah was instantly cleansed by God, we are cleansed by the blood of Christ. All we need to do is confess our sins to Him. (1 John:1:9). Because of Christ, and only because of Him, we can come boldly into God’s presence. “Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God's presence.” (Ephesians:3:12). God is holy and pure, there is none like Him; He has no equal. He is worthy of all praise, worship, our awe, and our honor. Yet, because of Christ, we can confidently come without guilt and shame to His throne. Jesus has cleansed us and set us free to serve God and answer His calling! (John:8:36).

The seraphim continually worshiped and praised God; should we praise God, too?
In Isaiah’s vision in Isaiah:6:1-4, we see the appropriate response to God’s glory and awesomeness.
The seraphim circled the throne shouting praises to Him! “It was in the year King Uzziah died that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of His robe filled the Temple. Attending Him were mighty seraphim, each having six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. They were calling out to each other, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies! The whole earth is filled with his glory!” Their voices shook the Temple to its foundations, and the entire building was filled with smoke.”
The Seraphim are described as mighty; but even so, they willingly submitted to God and enthusiastically worshiped Him. Just as they cried out to each other about God’s magnificence, we must worship Him continually, too! Worship is most often thought of as something believers do on Sunday at church. However, this is just a small part of our need to worship our Almighty God! We should worship and glorify Him in all that we do; this is called our acceptable worship! “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice--the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him.” (Romans:12:1).
Yes, it is wonderful to praise God with like-minded believers. But, in the world, as we worship God with our actions and words, will we have the most impact on the people who don’t yet know God. By making wise choices, serving others, and showing His love, we fill the world with His glory and bring honor and praise to Him! (
